I’m Mark Elmo Ellis, and my love affair with embroidery began in 2000.
I started by designing and selling music-themed embroidered items around the globe.
It wasn’t easy back in those days, for sure.
Not only did I have to learn how to digitize embroidery, but I had to learn how to build a website from the ground up.
But it was a lot different in those days, because I was using a new auction site called eBay!
One of my very first designs, an embroidered oboe hat, sold for $80 and ignited a passion that has fueled me ever since.
But, that first successful run didn’t last for more than 2 years. Things started getting rough when silkscreen designers began swamping eBay! with their cheap knock-offs.
This Success Didn’t Last
Also, my wife and I were working full-time jobs, and we had zero free time.
Although our embroidery business was thriving, but we knew it wouldn’t last.
We floated the idea of a physical store – but that was out of the question.
It was easier and cheaper to run an online business from our basement. No need for rent, insurance, or employees.
Eventually, we had to close the business and stick to our regular jobs.
For some reason, we held onto the Ellistrations.com URL. We had always hoped that we would reopen the business someday, and now we have.
As you know, things have changed online a lot.
Ellistrations Embroidery Rebooted with a Twist
For one thing, putting items online and selling them is very competitive. I can put higher quality hats and shirs online and nobody wants them.
So, I decided to take an easier route…again.
I discovered that selling physical items online was going to be tough.
So I found another way of making money online with embroidery: digitized designs
No more waiting for shipping or running out of stock!
Now, you can download my awesome designs instantly and start stitching away.
Plus, it gives me more time to be creative instead of dealing with a bunch of inventory.

Etsy Was Great – But This is Better!
At first, Etsy was the easy way to sell my embroidery designs.
It brought in customers and digital downloads made it super simple.
But as redux business grew, I wanted more control over my business.
Moving to my own website lets me offer a better experience, exclusive designs, and direct support—without Etsy’s limits.
Now you can buy my designs on my site using Square, and it’s just as easy and secure!
